The Swedish gambling control group Lotteriinspektionen has released a statement asking for the national government to end its state monopoly on gambling. A tax of 18 percent on gross revenue has been announced as well. This is to allow more parties to offer services.

Svenska Spel, a state operator, will continue to have control over physical casinos and slots. Foreign operators will still be unable to get into the country.

This may help Swedish casino groups like Mr Green and Betsson to expand in the country. It could potentially get other new groups to start up and offer their own casino services around Sweden.
